Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can anyone participate in the dental insurance plan?
A. Yes, anyone 18 or older and dependents. Seniors, Individuals, Couples and Families are all welcome.

Q. With this Dental Insurance Plan, I can use my own or any dentist. Why on some other dental plans do they require you to choose a dentist from their limited list and some have no specialist coverage at all?
A. Because our Dental Insurance Plan is traditional indemnity insurance, which all dentists in the fifty states embrace. Dentists are not required to sign a contract with the insurance company or to give the insurance company a discount. The insurance company pays claims direct to the dentist on a fee for service basis. A dentist on other plan lists is required to give the insurance company a discount.

Q. We who are sixty five, or soon to be, have found that most traditional insurance companies offering dental plans do not insure persons over 65 or 70. Why am I able to participate in your dental Insurance?
A. Our Dental Insurance Plan providers have adapted the plans offered to both non-seniors and seniors. With our Dental Insurance Plan, we can include participants of 18 years of age and over plus their dependents.

Q. Can I use my Dental Insurance Plan right away?
A. Yes on your effective date you may use your Preventive benefits. Covered benefits are the office call, examination, cleaning (twice a year) All covered 100%. Plan3, 80%, Plan 1&2 of usual and customary fees with a $50.00 deductible. Also covered at the same percentage of usual and customary fees for children under sixteen, are fluoride treatment, space maintainers. Restorative, Major Restorative available after the waiting periods.

Q. Why are there waiting periods included in the Dental Insurance Plan for Restorative and Major Restorative services?
A. Insurance companies receive thousands of inquiries per month regarding individual dental plans. Over ninety percent of the callers have some type of immediate dental problem. Unbelievably, there are people that would take advantage of the plan if these services were offered up front. For instance, after one-month premium were paid, one might go to his dentist specialist for a $700 root canal and as soon as the insurance company pays the claim, the person drops the dental plan and stops paying the premium. Multiply this action 10,000 times and you have a grave problem. This type of activity would make premiums so high that no one could afford to participate in a dental insurance plan and no dental insurance plan could survive.

Q. Why do some dental plans have lower monthly fees?
A. Because they are not insurance. They are called prepaid or discount plans. A prepaid discount company contracts with a short list of new dentists to give a discount to members the company signs up. The listed dentists may be many miles away from the member’s area. A list of discounted dental procedures is provided. The discount company pays the dentist nothing. You are the only one who pays the dentist. Most dentists abandon this form of dental plan once their practice grows enough to fill their service capacity.
